Minutes of NFPA Meeting – Wed 15th January

MINUTES OF NFPA MEETING HELD AT UNITE OFFICES, ABBEY, STREET, DUBUN ON WEDNESDAY 15TH JANUARY 2025

PRESENT: Stephen Lyons (president), John Nugent (vice president), Frank Fitzpatrick (trerasurer), Thomas Lillis (secretary), Michael Casey, Pat Doyle, Bernie Tierney, Mick McLoughlin, Frank McMoughlin, Kevin Swords, Liam Caldwell, Frank Kavanagh.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved, proposed by John Nugent and seconded by Kevin Swords. The secretary thanked Pat Doyle for taking the minutes of the previous meeting. There was a correction to the data for ESB. It should read 14% not 25%.

The treasurer gave a summary of our accounts. Presently the bank statement shows 18,201.22 euros the sum of 227.20 for the christmas dinner and 100.00 for the hire of the room at unite to be deducted leaving a balance of 17, 874.02 euros. The treasurer also informed the meeting that he and the secretary had processed all the paperwork for the cashing in of the prize bond. He is awaiting a response.

Kevin Swords gave a compresensive report regarding the web site. Kevin Swords has made contact with the web site person.. Orla Duncan, Kevin Swords proposed that NFPA should have a budget for the web site and suggested a sum of 1000 euros per year. This was seconded by Pat Doyle and agreed, Orla Duncan charges a fee of 50 euros per hour and 50 euros as an annual fee.

Kevin Swords has been working on the constitution and has e-mailed all the members the word document. Any amendments to the present constitution will be dealt with at the annual general meeting. Amendments should be sent to the secretary prior to the agm. It is proposed that the agm be held in april this year and we will finalise a date later.

Under any other business the Brid Smith bill was discussed. John Nugent gave a comprehesive outline of the origins of the bill and he was confident that it would not fail. Brid Smith unfortunately lost her seat but Deputy Boyd Barrett will promote the bill. Pat Doyle had reservations regarding the passage of the bill.
